Tennis at Four Seasons Resort at Peninsula Papagayo
For tennis enthusiasts, Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica offers four courts with the clay-like Har-Tru surface, as well as a real grass tennis court, the first at any Four Seasons location worldwide. Located at the Golf Club, the tennis program is managed by Peter Burwash International. Private lessons, clinics and player match-ups are available, as well as tennis equipment and accessories. The Pro Shop carries an assortment of high-end men’s and women’s golf and tennis apparel, hats and gear.

The golf course is on one Peninsula Papagayo’s highest plateaus, overlooking the colorful waters of Bahía de Culebra. There are spectacular water views on at 14 of the 18 holes. The signature hole, number 6, El Bajo, features a 446-yard par-4 with a tee shot that plays 61 metres (200 feet) downhill to a receptive valley-shaped fairway. The green is perched out on a cliff with the ocean behind it. A round culminates on the 18th green, with views of the Pacific Ocean and Bahía de Culebra.
Four Seasons Costa Rica Golf Club at Peninsula Papagayo is a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. Endorsed by the United States Golf Association, this program provides information and excellence to help golf courses preserve and enhance wildlife habitat and protect national resources. The courseis set amid crystalline waters and deep green forests, has labelled important trees, turning the cart path into a botanical garden. Hole to hole, the course offers a chance to see and appreciate a diversity of colourful plant, tree, bird and animal species. The congo (howler) and capuchin (white-faced) monkeys are among visitors’ favourites.
The Resort offers a driving range, a sand-bunker practice area and putting and chipping greens. Players can enjoy one or both of our two complimentary weekly clinics, and professional private instruction is available seven days a week.
The Resort offers its own hiking trail. The route extends approximately 1 kilometres (0.6 miles) from the beach on one side of the Peninsula up the hillside and down to the beach on the other side. The stairs and pathways are well-maintained and are an exerting challenge for hikers.

The Resort’s 181 guest rooms, suites and residences are designed to capture the exotic character of Costa Rica, with rattan and bamboo furnishings, local artwork and indigenous wood and stone finishes. The hotel is 98 meters(320 feet above the Pacific Ocean and has two beaches and four swimming pools.
