Riverside Tennis and Athletic Club Calgary Canada

Imagine being able to sit on the balcony of your apartment and look over a tennis court.  Nice, but not so unusual right?  But what if that balcony and the tennis court were inside and you lived in a cold climate?  Perfect!  That’s one of the unique features of the The Riverside Club in Calgary.  The facility boasts two of the finest indoor courts in this city that is known for it’s sometimes snowy, cold winters.

The club does offer memberships and a benefit is that members can book courts seven days in advance, up to three times per week. Non-members are invited to play at the Riverside Club, but can only book the courts on the same day they intend to play. Singles matches are one hour and doubles are two hours. Tennis lessons are available for members and non-members year round.

The club also features lessons, leagues, a ball machine and a full fitness facility, pool and hot tub.

The building is home to wellness practitioners such as sports therapy, a spa, a vision clinic and dental.

Another added bonus, it also houses an indoor golf facility with virtual driving and golf simulators where you can virtually play over 200 courses all in the warmth of the great indoors. That’s a sweet deal when it’s the middle of winter and you have to go a long way to find a golf course that’s playable.

Or Venture Outdoors To The Bow River Pathway

The Bow River pathway is a pathway system developed along the banks of the Bow River in the city of Calgary. It contains a network of pedestrian and bicycle paths connecting parks on both sides of the river.

The Bow River pathway follows the Bow River from west to east, then north to south

The pathway is used for cycling, hiking, jogging, as well as rollerblading and skateboarding. The paths are connected with a system that extends along the Elbow River and other areas of the city.

The network spans 48 kilometres (30 mi) from Bearspaw Dam to Fish Creek Provincial Park, connecting major parks and green areas in Calgary.

Construction of the Bow River Pathways started in 1975 to mark the city’s centenary. The project was funded by the City of Calgary, the Province of Alberta and the Devonian Group of Charitable Foundations. It was dedicated on June 25, 1977.
