Shadow Mountain Tennis-Palm DesertPalm Springs for some may be about watching the big stars at Indian Wells, but for thousands who come to this tennis paradise every year, it’s also about playing tennis.
Over our years of coming to Palm Springs we have checked out many clubs and resorts and we recently discovered Shadow Mountain Tennis in Palm Desert.
Shadow Mountain is an active facility that attracts many tennis players of all different levels. The tennis resort has 16 courts, three of them clay and six are lighted.
Shadow Mountain Tennis Academy
The tennis academy at Shadow Mountain is very popular and offers camp style clinics daily either half or full day. Private and semi private lessons are available as are team tune-ups and custom designed group tennis experiences.
Pickleball is available at Shadow Mountain
Six pickleball courts are available and the club has a pickleball pro.
More Courts Tucked Away Among the Condos
There are more courts that are easily accessed by adjacent condos.
What to do after playing tennis at Shadow Mountain
The resort has beautifully manicured grounds and pools for resort guests. There is a clubhouse and pro shop on site.
Other outdoor recreational opportunities
at the resort include basketball, ping pong and grass volleyball. The front desk offers complimentary use of recreational balls, ping pong paddles and more for guests.
Cafe & Bar
Breakfast and lunch dining in season that has a great view overlooking the figure-8 pool and tennis courts. There are historic photos of the Shadow Mountain Club of yesteryear decorating the walls. The restaurant has a full bar with happy hour offerings during busy season.

Pool-Side Grills
Small groups can also bring their own food and rent the barbeque next to the main pool for a nominal fee. Many of the resort condos also offer private barbeques.
Massage after Tennis
By appointment only, massage services include customized treatments offering a variety of therapeutic and sports related massages.
Fitness Studio on Site
Fitness studio equipped with a universal machine, recumbent bike, upright bike, treadmill, elliptical machine, free weights, yoga mats and balance balls.
Saunas and showers are located in the men’s and women’s locker rooms.
Where to Stay When Playing Tennis at Shadow Mountain
The resort has studios, villas and condos that are available for short or longer terms. They are all walking distance of the tennis and pickleball courts and there are several pools scattered throughout the resort. There are some condos that are courtside.

There are a few courts that are tucked away from the main ones and offer courtside accommodation for those who want to watch when they’re not playing!
