Favorite Tennis Courts Central Park New York City Tennis. With so many great places around the world to play tennis, how do you possibly choose where your next tennis adventure will be?  The Tennis Tourist has you covered.  These are the courts we loved playing on this year. Central Park New York, New York

This is about as iconic as it can get. New York City’s Central Park is among so many other things a mecca for tennis.  30 outdoor courts, 26 clay and four hard offer a place to play for tennis players of all levels. A 10 to 15 minute walk from 5th Avenue and Manhattan’s hustle and bustle, the tennis center is surrounded by the beautiful landscape that makes up this urban paradise, and seems a world away from the city of millions.

Permits are required to play tennis on all of New Yorks’ public courts. They are available online or at locations in the city.

There are many options for lessons for all ages and experience. Private or semi-private lessons can be booked up to one week in advance and no permit is required.

There are also weekend camps and clinics for adults. After school and summer camps are available for children. Tiny Tots program is for kids ages 4-7, and has a 5-1 ratio.  Emphasis is on fun, hand and eye coordination, and basic skills.

Adult Mini-Camps are  throughout the season on the weekends. Two-day programs are designed to improve  stroke productivity and strategywith a 4:1 student to pro ratio.

Enjoy the Park

Without argument, one of the world’s greatest parks, Central Park is a verdant oasis in the heart of New York City. Lush greenery, rushing streams, tranquil lagoons and endless entertainment mean hours and hours of relaxation, vigorous exercise or people watching like nowhere else. The hardest part of visiting Central Park is leaving!
