A Look at Our Favorite Tennis Courts This Year
Invermere Tennis Club
Beauty in the Canadian Rockies
One of our favorite Tennis Courts. With so many great places around the world to play tennis, how do you possibly choose where your next tennis adventure will be? The Tennis Tourist has you covered. These are the courts we loved playing on this year. Check out our favourites and try to put some of these on your calendar.
Invermere Tennis Club, British Columbia Canada
Set in the stunning Columbia Valley between the Rocky Mountains and the Purcell Range in Eastern British Columbia, Invermere Tennis Club is truly a gem and definitely one of our favorite tennis courts we discovered this year. Breathtaking scenery, a lovely mountain town that can be serene and peaceful during the week, but ramps up the pace on summer and holiday weekends. The tennis club is tucked away enough that it is almost always quiet enough for a relaxing yet invigorating game of tennis.
The club also offers group and private lessons for kids and adults.
What To Do After Playing Tennis at Invermere Tennis Club
Enjoy the Beaches of Lake Windermere
Lake Windermere is part of the mighty Columbia River and very close to its source. The lake offers clean, cool water and a variety of beaches. One of our favorites is Kinsmen Beach, tucked away from the town and adorned with with shady trees, grassy spots and smooth sand. It’s a great place to curl up under a tree with a book after tennis, go for a refreshing swim or partake in water sports including kayaking, sailing and wake boarding.
Kinsmen Beach and Pynelogs Cultural Centre
Right on Kinsmen Beach, Pynelogs Cultural Centre & Art Gallery is the primary cultural venue in the area of the Columbia Valley. This historical log building is also the home for the Columbia Valley Arts Council. Inside is an art gallery that operates throughout the year and also serves as the scene of many arts related events. The gift shop features the works of local artists and artisans throughout the summer season. You’ll find lots of interesting things to buy from this artsy community. Music, dramatic and comedy concerts, an independent film series and Open Mic Nights are on tap throughout the year. A cafe overlooking the beach is a popular spot which operates throughout the spring and summer months. Over 150 local artists are represented in the gallery and art shows are changed regularly.
There are a multitude of outdoor activities in the valley throughout all four seasons, downhill, cross-coutry and heli-skiing, hiking, hot springs, cycling, whitewater rafting and more.
