Vietnam Tennis Famiana Resort. After 20 hours in the air, to get to Vietnam from North America, Phu Quoc Island was the perfect decompression chamber. A couple of days here and the jet lag evaporates. Our research pointed us t0 the Famiana Resort and Spa which not only offers a tropical beach setting, but has a lit tennis court to test our racquets on.
Two things impressed me about this resort. Firstly is the genuine friendly manner which the staff at the resort welcomed us.
The other impression is how the pace of life switches stations from metro-frantic to cool-vibe by the time you’ve partaken in the refreshing welcome drink in the resort lobby. You notice it when you see the casual gait of the guests as they slip along the palm lined pathways from their bungalow to the beach.
Set in a Lush Vietnamese Garden That Leads to The Beach
Well Maintained Tennis Courts For Guest Use
The Famiana had graciously offered to help us out with shooting some tennis video at their resort. They introduced us to Luan, a host at the resort, who was taking some time off his film studies at university in Vietnam to work at the resort. It was a pleasure working with him as well as learning from him so much about Vietnamese culture.
Accommodations in a Lush Garden Setting
Our room was a spacious bungalow perfectly situated between the tennis court and the swimming pool.
The complex with the tennis courts is across the road from the beach side. They have a chauffeured golf cart which gets you to your room in about 3 minutes, alternatively it’s a nice casual walk. I loved waking up in the morning and wandering through the tropical gardens over to the open air dinning shelter for their awesome buffet breakfast. Vietnamese coffee definitely gets the day going.
Like many places in Vietnam, we woke to the sound of a rooster, from a distance. Wow, that’s so much more appreciated than my alarm back home. Up early, we had a chance to play some tennis in the cool of the day. Only a few steps out our door, the courts are in really good shape.
Tennis Courts Were Just Outside our Door
There’s shaded benches, as well the resort provides water and towels for your game. If you show up without your racquet, no worries, they have racquets and balls in their shop. For a change you can also shoot a few arrows on the Archery range. We tried it and it’s definitely not as easy as it looks. It didn’t get to crazy hot when we where there, but if it does you can spend the heat of the day in the shade of a palm down by the beach or lounging around one of the gorgeous swimming pools. In the evening you can head back to the tennis court and play a little night tennis under the lights.
Vietnam’s Only West Facing Beaches Provide Incredible Sunsets
Vietnam is a long country, 1,650 killometers from one end to the other. We had a lot to see, so unfortunately we only had a couple of days on Phu Quoc. We could have stayed a lot longer. In the short time there, we met incredibly nice people, had our first bowls of Pho in Vietnam, experienced an amazing resort, beautiful beaches, stunning sunsets, lots of fun tennis and especially the gracious hosts at the Famiana Resort and Spa.
After Tennis Recreation is Plentiful
The pools, the beach, archery, golf putting are just some of the ways to enjoy your time after tennis.
Days End is Always a Reason to Celebrate and Enjoy
Sun sets are phenomenal on the west side of Phu Quoc Island and Famiana is situated where it has a prime sunset view.
